Community & Service

Plenty of opportunities at St. Michael

There are many ways to feel at home within the St. Michael community. Liturgical Ministry, Knights of Columbus, Altar Society, faith-forming groups and other outreach programs are just a few of the ministries you can become involved in to enrich your faith and share it with others. Let us know how we can help you feel like you belong here!

Liturgical and Prayer Ministries

Mary Queen of Angels Prayer Groups

Group members pray daily for the general & special intentions of St. Michael’s parish. We never underestimate the power of prayer!
Interested in joining this prayer team? Contact Linda at linda.terrano@outlook.com; 402.483.5874

Eucharistic Ministry

Eucharistic Ministry consists of extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) who take the Eucharist to homebound and facility-bound Catholics in our parish boundaries. If you have great love and reverence for Jesus, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament and a compassionate heart for the sick, this outreach is for you!
Contact Joy Martin at joy-martin@cdolinc.net if you or a loved one are homebound/facility-bound or if you wish to learn  more about this ministry.

Music Ministry

Music has an important role in our worship and liturgy, and we would like to invite you to be a part of it! Whether your gift is to sing, play an instrument or to lead a small choir, we can find a fit for you in our music ministry. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm in the church.
Please email our music director, Sharon Long, with any questions: sharon-long@cdolinc.net

Liturgical Ministry

Liturgical Ministry invites you to partake in the Mass by being an acolyte, reader or lector, an altar server, a greeter or an usher. Acolytes and Lectors require training through the Diocese which takes place the first part of the year. Altar Server training is for all boys 4th grade and older and takes place in the Fall of the year at St. Michael School. Greeters and ushers are an integral part of the liturgy. Liturgical Ministry is a great way to serve and meet others in our parish.
Call the parish office at 402-488-1313 or send an email to cindy-schilmoeller@cdolinc.net if you would like to be involved in Liturgical Ministry.

Bereavement Ministry

Losing a loved one is an incredibly difficult experience.  Those who are grieving need prayers, support, and consolation, especially from their faith community.  St. Michael parish has a Bereave-ment Ministry to support parishioners who have lost a spouse, child, parent, or sibling; this ministry exercises two spiritual works of mercy: comforting the sorrowful and praying for the living and dead.  Please contact Joy if you are interested in this beautiful ministry.

Legion of Mary

Meetings—Legion of Mary meets on Fridays at 8:00AM  in the St. Raphael room.  Members become instruments of the Holy Spirit through a formal structure of prayer & service.  Active membership would include attendance at a weekly meeting for prayer, spiritual direction, apostolic planning, & discussion, along with two hours of work guided by the spiritual director.  Auxiliary membership involves daily commitment to prayer for the intentions of the Legion, its members, & souls who will be encountered during the week’s work.  Active members of Our Lady of Mercy will meet Friday mornings from 8:00-9:00 AM. Though participation in the Legion of Mary requires fidelity, discipline, & sacrifice, it obtains incredible graces for souls & serves as an efficacious road to holiness.
For more information about the Legion of Mary, check out the official Legion of Mary website:
